LoveBar is a new creation, conceived and choreographed by Wanda Moretti based on “La Bottega del Caffè” famous opera by Carlo Goldoni, the show is the winning project of the 400th anniversary of the Goldoni Theatre in Venice. The 18th-century drama was chosen to be translated into a real physical score through vertical dance choreography: its being a representative jumble of power, social and trade dynamics makes it a contemporary text, to address issues of our everyday life and express them without the concepts brought by words, but through the unveiling in corporeal form of the dynamics of its intertwining of characters and social classes. The coffee shop narrated by the playwright is transformed into a contemporary up-to-date place place, where young people meet and engage sometimes strong, sometimes friendly relationships.

The performance marks time and life today and shows community spaces that seem to be in disuse but possess that pulsation that triggers everyday life made up of relationships. The music plays on references, interferences, quotations, reformulations between electronics, jazz and rock music. Songs rich in echoes and allusions, representing the universality of the characters, painting characters and worlds in which we live.

It is Venice that unites vertical dance and Goldoni comedy. Indeed, the lagoon city is embedded in the choreographer's everyday life and dance form, having influenced her views on the force of gravity and the perception of density and emptiness. The attitude of imagining planes and places thus unites the two works across time.
